One of the leading educationists in the northeast region, Billy M. Kamara, who at the same time has been providing free legal services for the people of Bombali district has described the Julius Maada Bio Summer School in Makeni as useful and a step in the right direction taken by Dr. Julius Maada Bio, the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone.
The legal luminary was assessing the summer school during an interview with A-Z newspaper in Makeni city.
“It is useful and in the right direction to keep the pupils studious and fit to face their new levels of challenges,” Lawyer Billy said, adding that, education cuts across and is not based on tribal lines. “All tribes from different political parties benefit equally same for the Free Quality Education “, he maintained.
He said education should be seen as all man business and should be given the necessary support for its success in the country. He noted that as an educationist himself having taught for years at both school and syndicate levels in the region, Billy has expressed the need for massive support of the government’s flagship programme which he said has led to radical inclusion of more kids to attend school especially in remote parts in the region.
He said as a way of completing government’s effort towards the Free and Quality Education(FQE), he has established a school for preparatory and primary levels in Makeni city where he said more interventions are needed to be made for the success of the system.
It could be recalled that the JMB Summer School was launched by President Bio in July to engage pupils in intensive classes during the holidays. In Makeni, there are two centers such as the Benevolent Islamic Secondary School and Alhadi Islamic Secondary School which have been hosting close to three thousand school goers throughout the holiday.
