In a significant step toward addressing water scarcity in Sierra Leone, Alhaji Mohamed Jagaban Kamara has officially unveiled a state-of-the-art borehole drilling machine, fulfilling a promise he made in 2024 to improve access to clean drinking water in underserved communities.
The unveiling ceremony, which drew local residents, community leaders, and members of the media, marked a milestone in Kamara’s ongoing efforts to support infrastructure development and enhance public health across the country.
The modern drilling machine is designed to penetrate deep underground aquifers, providing reliable access to clean groundwater in areas where potable water remains scarce. It is expected to be deployed across multiple provinces, benefiting thousands of Sierra Leoneans.
“This is not just a machine; this is hope for our communities,” Kamara declared during the ceremony. “I made a promise to bring change, and today, we take a major step toward delivering that change. Clean water is not a privilege — it is a basic human right.”
The project forms part of Kamara’s broader community development agenda, which also prioritizes youth empowerment, public health improvements, and sustainable infrastructure.
Residents welcomed the initiative with gratitude and optimism, emphasizing its potential to reduce waterborne diseases and ease the burden on women and children, who often travel long distances to fetch water.
With strategic deployment plans already underway, the borehole machine is expected to play a transformative role in improving living conditions and promoting health and well-being in rural and peri-urban communities.
This development stands not only as a fulfilment of a promise, but also as a testament to leadership rooted in action, accountability, and service.
