In a dedicated effort to improve healthcare services for police personnel, Inspector General of Police William Fayia Sellu inaugurated a new health centre in Kono District. Along with enhancing medical access, IGP Sellu also unveiled two brand-new motorbikes aimed at assisting the medical team in the district, which serves two police divisions.
The newly established health centre is designed to provide essential medical services not only to police officers and their families but also to the surrounding community. During the inauguration ceremony, IGP Sellu emphasized the vital connection between the welfare of police personnel and effective service delivery. He acknowledged the historical challenges officers have faced in accessing quality healthcare and highlighted the progress achieved under his leadership.
Significantly, IGP Sellu discussed the transformation of the Police Hospital in Kingtom into a teaching hospital, as well as a strategic partnership with the Spain-based Surgeons in Action Foundation, which has performed over 700 free surgical operations for both police officers and civilians.
To further address healthcare challenges, IGP Sellu noted that facilities have been established in all regional headquarters and key locations across the country, including Lungi, Mattru, and now Kono. He reaffirmed his commitment to improving the health and well-being of police personnel nationwide.
The inauguration of the new health centre, alongside the donation of motorbikes, medicines, and additional medical equipment, marks significant progress in meeting the healthcare needs of police personnel and the broader community.
