The Management of the International Earthmoving and Construction Company (IECC) has in a press release confirmed ownership and responsibility one of its trucks with registration AHM 530 which crashed with a TVS Motor Bike along the Benguema-Waterloo highway on Wednesday 25 August 2021.

The release stated that the incident has nothing to do with the presidential convoy as was claimed by some misguided people whose intention was to smear the reputation of the president of the republic of Sierra Leone.

In a video clip making the rounds in social media, it was alleged that the victim (now deceased) was knocked down or ran-over by the presidential convoy of His Excellency the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone.

As a Company, the IECC has categorically stated that linking the video clip to the Presidential convoy is false, malicious and misleading. The company wishes it to be known that such an unfortunate incident can be maliciously exploited to defame His Excellency the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone.

According to the company, the facts regarding the tragic incident are that: on Wednesday 25 August, 2021 at around 6:30pm, along the Benguema-Waterloo highway, its Astros truck with Registration number AHM 530 in care of driver, Alpha Umarr Barrie, was involved in a road crash with a TVS motor bike which left the bike rider dead.

The company furthered that since the incident, it has not only cooperated with the ongoing police investigations but it has also taken over the funeral responsibility of the deceased.

“We are also in continued discussion with the bereaved family during this difficult moment”, the release revealed.

The company further pleads with the members of the public to show restraint in sharing the said video clip as the bereaved family mourns.
