Fourth Prosecution witness (PW4) Amidu Conteh in the ongoing trial involving Ekubolajie Nicol on Tuesday 20th December 2022, testified before Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Court No.1 on Pademba road, Freetown, what he did during the murder investigation of Sinnah Kai Kargbo former staff Skye bank who was alleged to have been killed by the General Manager Ekubolajie Nicol (now accuse).
In his testimony, he said, he is Detective Police Sergeant 9546 Conteh A attached at the Scientific Support Units Central Police Station, his duties are many but mentioned one which is to identify and collect photography on the crime scene.
PW4 said he recognized the accused and recalled on 16th October 2022, as he was on duty at Central Police Station when a case of murder reported by one Idrissa Kamara of No. 47K Wilberforce, and a team of Police Officers led by Detective Inspector Moro V.A and together with himself left for the Connaught mortuary, at the mortuary they requested to bring out the decease Sinnah Kai Kargbo and Idrissa Kamara identify the decease as Sinnah Kai Kargbo in the presence of the accused Ekubolajie Nicol.
He further that he observed the corpse and the face was swollen also observed the decease wearing a black T-shirt and a trouser and took a photograph of the deceased and later returned to the Police Station.
On the same day operations team left together with him and the accused person to the crime scene at No. 1 Nicol Street, Leicester, reaching the scene the accused showed them his house and he observed the house is a fence with a gate, then the accused led them to his bedroom were searched was conducted and during the searched photograph was taken by him and they were developed into pictures and they returned to the station.
The pictures were presented (tendered) and attached with a report marked B1-17 end of testimony. He was cross-examined by Roland SV Wight Esq. After the cross-examination, the defence said the accused was detained for over 24 more days and the Prosecution is delaying to produced witnesses so that they can speedily do with the case.
Magistrate Ngegba in his reply said he has noted his concern, the matter was adjourned to the 28th of December 2022.
