The Third Police Witness (PW3) Victoria Precious Libby, a Social worker has testified before Justice M.M. Sesay (JA) on the 24th August, 2021 at the High Court in Freetown. The accused persons, Amadu Gibao, Alfred Gbassay Sandy, Musa Koroma, Abdulia Kanu, Ansumana Charles, Thomas Willoughby, Claudius Kajue, Banja Tarawallie, Samuel Alpha, Edward John, Ahmed Sesay, Vandy Kamara, Allieu Thoronka, John Sesay, and Alhaji Kamara, are charged with 14 counts charges to wit robbery with aggravation, conspiracy, rape and sexual violence contrary to the Laws of Sierra Leone.
It is alleged in count one that the accused persons on the 19th May, 2019 broke and entered the dwelling apartments of Martha Lahai, Rev. Jean Lahai and stole items and rape and sexual violated, Madam Martha Lahai.
(PW3) said she recognized few of the accused persons and could not recall the rest. Witness said she knew Martha Lahai as her landlady daughter and Angela Sesay as her co-tenant. Witness said there are many apartments at the said compound.
Witness said she confronted the sixth accused person, Martha who was pointing towards him at the Moyamba Government Hospital and was the one that break the door to my room and asked me to remove my cloths, while she also stole Angela’s phone.
Witness continued that she was in her room on the 19th May, 2029 when the thieves came into rob, rape and sexual violated them. Witness said she got up and heard voices and thought it was her co-tenant who normally quarrels. Witness said she also heard someone was saying I don’t have money please leave me and a sound of someone being beaten.
Under cross examination, defense Lawyer Komba Kanu asked PW3 how many of the accused persons entered her room. Witness said at first she saw two and later saw three of them. Defense lawyer asked witness if they were mask. Witness said no. Defense counsel asked if she saw any instrument or weapons in their hands. Witness said she saw touch light, machetes and bags. Defense counsel asked witness how many of them were inside the room. Witness said herself and co-tenants.
Meanwhile, all accused persons are remanded at the Male Correctional center. The matter has been adjourned for the 31st August, 2021.
