The Northwest Region has on 28th February 2023, comfortably defeated the Southern Region Football team to book a final spot in the Maiden edition of the Leone Rock Metal Company one Nation Tournament.
The match started with a pace play from the two Teams as either side looked to be seal qualified for the finals in the maiden edition of the Leone Rock Metal Company one Nation tournament, but with all chances in the first half, both teams failed to take any of their chances in the first half.
The first goal of the match came in (52) minutes of play in the early second half as Mohamed Kamara buried home a pass from the left-hand side to give his side the vital goal. The Visitors came close to getting the equalizing goal, but the solid defensive work of Northwest Region held on to keep it at one zero.
Mohamed S. Kanu’s 74th-minute goal put the match out of reach for visitors to the Southern Region. The Southern Region fought back to get a conciliation goal but they were faced a difficult fight within the opponent’s half.
The North-west Region has kept a clean sheet in three encounters matching the Leone Rock one Nation Grand Final in high shoulders to face Western Rural Region.
Before the match, the Regional Chairman, Abdul Osman Turay had been hoping for as he seek to build a huge impression ahead of the grand finale.
The Southern Region reached the final through the toss of coins, and there were a lot of preparations put in place for the team but mother lucky was not on their side. The organizers would announce a date when the grand final is going to play in the BO mini Stadium, Southern District of Sierra Leone.
