36 years old business man, Chernor Samba Barrie was believed to have committed suicide in Kambia district, but after the postmortem result was out it revealed that the late Barrie was strangulated and murdered by some unknown people.
Barrie who deals in assorted goods and plies his business between Sierra Leone and Guinea received a call Sunday evening informing him about goods available for sale at Bamoi Luma, and took to his heels to acquire them. Hours later, Barrie was found dead with a belt tied to his neck; his family and community people are still in amusement about such tragedy.
According to the Youths Chairman of Bamoi Luma, Alhaji Abdulai Jalloh said they were informed by community about the deaths of Late Chernor Samba Barrie and decided to call the local unit commander (LUC) of Kambia Police Division to inform them about the situation. Upon responding to his calls the L.U.C of Kambia Police Division, chief Superintendent of police, Abu Bakarr Mangona ordered a group of police officers to collect the corps at Bamoi Luma where the incident took place.
He revealed that at the scene together with some police officers found the remains of the deceased hanging to a stick with a belt is tied around his neck.
The police team took the corps for postmortem at the Kambia Government Hospital on the same day. Chairman Jalloh said he is disappointed with happening at Bamoi Luma and made mentioned about an incident of a lady who was allegedly raped and killed several months ago at the same Magbema international market commonly known as Bamoi Luma.
Alhaji Abdulai Jalloh called on the Government, the justice sector, the law enforcement agencies to provide the people of Bamoi Luma with police station instead of a police post so that active security system will be in place in Bamoi.
According to the crime officer, Superintendent J.B Lahai said the incident took place in a lonesome area and that after the postmortem the report stated that the late Chernor Samba Barrie was allegedly strangulated and killed by unknown people within his locality.
The police vouched to continue investigation and to bring the defaulters to book for such action. The remains of Chernor Samba Barrie have been laid to rest.
