Sierra Leone National Senior Men’s Team Leone Stars will today take on the Wild Dogs of Guinea Bissau in Bissau on match day (6) of the TotalEnegies Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.
Leone Stars departed with (15) home-based players and a total of (8) invited foreign-based players plus the Technical team and Government Officials made of the delegations to represent the Country in the last match in AFCON qualifiers.
The team touched down on Friday evening as they held two days of training to brace up for the crunch tie clash today.
Leone Stars’ match against Guinea Bissau is described as an Academic match as the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Wild Dogs of Guinea Bissau have already qualified for the tournament in Ivory Coast.
Ahead of the match day John Edward Keister the head Coach of the National team while updating Journalists said the technical team has selected these players to go and represent their Country to the best of their ability and give out the desired results, noting some players are in squad this is their first called in the senior national team and for some they have been around the squad, but so far they are happy with the preparations of the team.
Thomas Daddy Brima the President of the Sierra Leone Football Association assured Journalists that this match is going to be the kick start of the World Cup campaign that why the technical team called up more home-based based who were active in the last concluded Sierra Leone Premier League.
Sierra Leone Senior team Leone Stars is going into this match with poor records against the Wild Dogs of Guinea Bissau, Their best match so far against Guinea Bissau has been (6) draws and they have suffered seven defeats against them in all competitions, The team bottle their qualification after suffered two back to back defeats against the Super Eagles of Nigeria and also suffered two draws in the entire campaigns of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
