From the city of Makeni northern Sierra Leone, the crude word ‘Munku’ has been hooted and it is reverberated across the globe. The All Peoples Congress party has by the order of court met in Makeni where the rallying force, erstwhile President Bai Koroma resides. By the ruling of Justice Adrian Fisher the party was to amend the constitution that has been a subject of litigation.

A twenty one committee was supposed to be installed under the aegis of the Political Parties Registration Committee to ensure that what were contained in the court order is adhered to. To say that the party has been in rift is an understatement; and meeting in Makeni was assumed to be a means of reconciling the long drawn acrimony.

Former President Ernest Bai Koroma’s influence as chairman and leader of the party in perpetuity has been the core bone of contention that formed the case filed by one of the factional groups, specifically the National Reform Movement.

The Makeni event that has passed is technically a false start as it goes against the grain of the ruling that Ernest was supposed to stay off from the event. On the contrary he took center stage to chair the event. His strategy of attempting a quick fix by calling all those factional leaders to talk down on them by calling them crude and uncouth, which is actually the idea we can draw from Munku politicians is going to costly in undermining peace and lowering the chances of the APC in the 2023 elections.

The Munku politicians have come back to the capital and they are soon going to find the voice to prove their essence or new formed posture based on the unction of their Messiah, their Messi, world best former President Ernest Bai Koroma.
