The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. Ambrose Michael Sovula has  on the 25th March, 2022 informed beneficiaries of the Women Assurance Initiative (WAI) project that the skills gained from beads and Jewelleries fashion designing would not only make them income earners and productive but will also make them marketable in the current competitive world.

Dr Ambrose Michael Sovula continued that the innovative project will also serve as an eye opener to women and young girls and that above all, it will help complement government effort through jobs creation and wealth distribution among women in the country.

He therefore urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the training and help transfer the knowledge acquired to others, referencing the dream of His Excellency President Bio, in human capital development.

Founder and CEO of the project who double as the wife of the Sierra Leone Ambassador to the United States of America Mrs. Milicent Wai, disclosed that the project was born out of passion to see the growth of women in Sierra Leone.

“When I represented Sierra Leone at the Africa Union (AU), I learned the duties of women and that upon my returned I decided to establish something that will help improve our women in the country” said Madam Wai, noting that this was how she came about the “Women Assurance Initiative (WAI)” meant for beads and Jewelries fashion designing.

The training facilitator is her Ghanian counterpart who use to be her private beads and Jewelries designer.

Meanwhile twenty five (25) women from three districts are the first batch of beneficiaries.
