Parents and some community people in Yormandu town, Bo district have protested against the Principal of the Islamic Call Society School, Michael Derrick Charles. The protest against the administration of Mr. Charles cannot be unconnected with him being disrespectful to the Yormandu Community people including parents whose children or wards are pupils of the aforementioned school.
Mohamed Alie is the community Teachers Association Chairman Islamic Call Society Secondary School in Yormandu town, Bo District. On behalf of his colleague’s parents expressed dismay over the disrespectful the attitude of the principal in question noting despite his usual disrespectful mood to all and sundry Michael Derrick Charles is the fun of running the school alone without the involvement of the existing structures which has the potential of destabilizing the development so far achieved in the School.
The CTA Chairman ICS Secondary School further noted that five million seven hundred thousand Leones in the old currency was given to the Principal in question by President
Bio as support to the girl child education but he has failed to account for the money.
He said the principal during this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in July requested one hundred and fifty thousand Leones in the old currency from parents for their children to be camped whilst writing for their exams. But the objective for which the monies were collected never materialized.
A similar sentiment was also expressed by the CTA Chairman of the Primary sector of the Islamic Call Society in Yormandu town, Bo District. Meanwhile, the aggrieved parents have accused the Deputy Director of Education Bo District of supporting the principal in question to carry out the aforesaid vices in his administration, because he is aware of what Michael Derrick Charles does and has promised to change him but to no avail. They have therefore called on the Ministry of Education to intervene in the said matter as it has the potential of undermining the free quality School education initiative of President Bio.
In an effort to balance the story this medium called the attention of said Principal to the allegations levied against him, he vehemently refused to respond to the press as of press time.
