Sierra Leone Athletics Association Athletes in the Commonwealth Games Ibrahim Karim Bangura has finished 4th position in the men’s (400) heat with a time of 21:28 seconds previous time of 21:47 seconds.
Ibrahim Karim Bangura started the Commonwealth Games with 100 meters but he was unable to make it to the next rounds of the games and ended up in the four meters; which was outstanding in today’s event.
Bangura is hoping to grab at least a Silver medal and has partly taken in an International competition where he has excelled well by bringing laurels back home.
After he lost the 100 meters in his first event in the games while talking to Journalists he said ” I could not make it to the last stage because of many factors back home, lack of standard training track, it has taken me seven months I was not able to train in a standard ground and that is among the reasons why I performed badly.”
In the Para Table event, Sierra Leone hopeful George Wyndham lost two of his three games in the quarter-final of the Para Table Tennis in Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
George Wyndham lost by (3:2) and (3:1) to his Indian and English opponents respectively but still has to play against the current group leader from Nigeria in his final game.
In Boxing Sierra Leone female Boxer Sara Joo on 3rd August 2022 failed a medical test, this comes as a result of a thumb injury test and she was declared unfit to box in the Commonwealth Games.
Sierra Leonean Female Sara Joo is a Sierra Leonean-Canadian citizen who has represented Sierra Leone in zone two tournaments organized in Sierra Leone where eight (8) Countries took part in the zone two tournaments and grab a gold medal in the competition.
After the Zone two tournaments, she was chosen to represent Sierra Leone along with her counterpart Zainab Keita who also won a gold medal in the zone two competitions. However, she was disqualified from the tournament due to a failed test result.
