The race to cling the All People’s Congress (APC) Secretary General Position is getting heated up with various candidates expressing their interest for the hot seat.

The learned Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of Sierra Leone, Ady Macauley in an exclusive interview said if given the position he has the capabilities of taking APC to victory in the upcoming 2023 elections.

Ady Macauley has long been practicing in the private sector as a Barrister and Solicitor over the years. He has also held the position of Commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission under the reign of the previous APC Government. Despite being a strong APC party member Ady Macauley has been backstage in the political arena, until now.

Ady Macauley stated that whilst he was in private practice, he has always been interested in political issues, though he was not involved in politics. According to the barrister, he has realized that politics affects everyone and he has seen the damage politics can inflict on a whole nation when people that are not qualified and do not have the interest of the country take over the governance of the nation. That’s the reason why he has stepped out of his comfort zone and taken up the mantle of politics to bring change and help in his little way to make Sierra Leone a better nation.

He further mentioned that what guides him is his core beliefs in the Rule of Law, integrity and accountability because these are issues he is passionate about, and he thinks it is a national issue for him to step into politics to start making changes, and  not just to tweet about the changes that should be made.

Barrister Macauley pointed out that, he thinks the entire membership of the APC believes he has what it takes to bring added value to the APC party in making sure they win the presidential sit come 2023 and they, therefore, support his aspiration in acquiring the APC Secretary General seat.

He further mentioned that Barrister Lansana Dumbuya, his contender aspirant, is a competent man, very honest and his loyalty and love for the party is unquestionable.

The Barrister said in order for them to get the Presidential ticket come 2023, the party needs something more than these good qualities.

According to the Barrister the party needs someone who can operate from a not too comfortable zone and thinks he is the right man for the job as he has proven countless times that he is a political spokesman for Sierra Leone, and if he can do this for the country, he is confident to do the same for the APC.

Ady Macauley stated that their party’s vision for Sierra Leone is for Sierra Leoneans to have the space and opportunity in realizing their dreams and potential especially the youths, regardless of their ethnic background, or religious extract. They aspire for a Sierra Leone with a stable economy, in which the youths can be supported by the Government to reach their full potential and a country where Human rights and democracy are not compromised.

Barrister Macauley encourages every Sierra Leonean to be part of the change not just to sit back and pray for change to eventually occur as every Sierra Leonean has the power to bring about the change they crave, and one way to bring about this change is to register, cast their votes and to protect their votes.

Ady Macauley expressed that he is a confident man and therefore does not feel threatened or jittery by his fellow aspirant.

To the other aspirants, Lawyer Macauley said he considers him as a friend and a brother and therefore wishes him well and if in the event he ends up winning the position, he’ll still acknowledge him as a friend and fellow party member, as losing does not mean he will have to exit the APC party.
