Armed Robbers allegedly attacked a woman late Sunday night at Funkia Goderich Freetown stealing her purse containing money in the local currency and other valuables.
Hannah Kamara sustained a deep cut on her foot during the reported robbery incident, and abrasions on her leg resulted in a discoloration of her skin.
According to Hannah Kamara, she said she was coming from a friend’s birthday party around 11 pm when the two men she said attacked her.
She said she observed that the men were trailing her from Funkia Junction but was unbothered about their intentions and kept going.
She continued that she approached a dark area and suddenly the two men attacked her and hit her in the back.
She furthermore said that she fell into a gutter and that one of the men jumped into the gutter and grabbed the purse from her and she sustained injuries due to the fall.
Miss Hannah Kamara said her purse contained her iPhone 11, the sum of one hundred and eighty four Leones and other valuables she said she couldn’t recall.
Kamara said she went to a pharmacy later for medical treatment but has refused to make any criminal report of the incident at the police station she said that it would be a fruitless endeavor and that nothing will come out of it.
Mariatu Sesay a resident of the Funkia community said the community is no longer safe for people especially women to live in.
She said she has been a victim of a robber incident where she said she was attacked on the 3rd May 2022 and that the sum of One Million Leones in local currency was stolen money she said was meant for business.
In her case, she alleged that the robbers were armed and that they took out a very sharp knife and asked her to decide to choose her life or her handbag.
Mariatu said she couldn’t scream because it was late and that even if she had shouted no one would have rescued her and could have been stabbed as well so she said she just gave them the bag and they ran away unable to see nor identify who they were because the environment she said was dark.
She concluded that when these things happen they don’t bother reporting the incident at the station she said was that others who had previously been a victim and reported got no response except unnecessary spending she said.
