Husband And Wife In Court For Alleged Malicious Damage

The Presiding magistrate Sahr Kekura of Ross Road court number one has said he will deliver judgement on the matter between the Inspector General of Police versus  Yeabu Conteh and her husband  Mohamed Kanu on the 23rd of November 2023.

He made the above disclosure after the prosecutor, Sergeant Memunatu Manica Turay  declared her case closed.

The accused Yeabu Conteh and her husband Mohamed Kanu are before the court number one on a case file C/S 572/2023 for conspiracy and malicious damage contrary to section 52 of the Malicious damage Act of 1816.

It was alleged on the charge sheet after police investigation that on Wednesday 25th of January 2023, at No. 10 Harding Street Rokupa, Wellington, the accused conspired together with other persons unknown to commit felony to wit malicious damage.

The police also alleged that on the same date and place, the accused maliciously damaged eighteen corrugated iron sheets,  and other properties worth seven hundred and twenty nine thousand Leones (Le 7, 29000)  belonging to complainant Foday Francis  Bangura.

The case file consisted of abstract report, photo album containing photographs and a final report penned down by the police during investigation.

During the preliminaries the prosecution called six witnesses including the formal witness, the scene of crime officer and the exhibit clerk who took the witness stand and narrated what he discovered at the crime scene during the incident.

Shortly after the matter was mentioned for further hearings, sergeant Memunatu Manica Turay who inherited the file from her colleague sub inspector Isatu Bangura informed the Bench that they have closed their case.

Rising from the bar, defense counsel Randy Bangura said he relied on the evidence made by his client to the police during investigation.

In that light, magistrate Sahr Kekura adjourned the matter to the 23rd of November 2023 for Judgement.
