The highly publicized drug case involving Monica Kumba Kaiwandi, a housewife, made another appearance before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No. 2. She is facing a charge of Possession of a Prohibited Drug Without Lawful Authority, contrary to Section 8 (c) of the National Drug Control Act 2008, Act No. 10 of 2008.
When the charge was read and put to the accused, no plea was taken.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Isatu Baba Musa, the prosecutor, requested a short adjournment because the prosecution’s witness was absent from court.
In response, the defense counsel, J. A. Conteh Esq., renewed and adopted his previous bail application on behalf of the defendant.
Magistrate Fornah, however, refused bail and remanded the defendant to the female correctional facility in Freetown. The case was adjourned to 1st October 2025 for the continuation of the trial.
