Beatrice Kamara, a housewife, appeared before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown facing three charges: wounding with intent, wounding, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

According to the particulars of the offense, on Thursday, January 25th, 2024, at Johnson Drive, Laka, in the Western area of Freetown, Beatrice Kamara allegedly wounded Betty Koroma with intent to cause her grievous bodily harm. Additionally, on the same date and at the same place, the accused person purportedly maliciously wounded and assaulted Betty Koroma, resulting in actual bodily harm.

Sergeant 9939 Mohamed Lahai led the prosecution as witness number one.

Betty Koroma, a businesswoman, identified the accused person as her neighbor. She recounted that on January 25th, 2024, while she was purchasing something, Beatrice Kamara began calling her derogatory names, leading to an argument.

During the altercation, Kamara allegedly struck Koroma three times on the head with a metal pencil, causing her head to bleed. Koroma reported the incident to the Adonkia police station, where she was issued a medical request form endorsed at Connaught Hospital. She received six stitches on her head. The endorsed medical request form was presented and tendered in court as part of the records. Koroma also stated that she provided a statement to the police.

Meanwhile, Magistrate Kekura adjourned the matter to February 16th, 2024, with bail continuing for the accused person.
