The race for the position of Young Generation Leader of the ruling Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) is taking a new dimension as over thirty names have come up. Conspicuous among them is the man who welcomed President Bio in America with clanging pot covers, when skeptics in and out of the country were of the notion that the President would not travel to America following his election.
Doma Williams, alias the Lion of SLPP, has been an Engineer in the United States of America for over a decade playing pivotal roles for the party in North America. His use of pot covers to welcome the President went viral and was one of those that had the gut to take on the previous APC administration trenchantly for corruption and maladministration.
Doma Williams was given a red carpet welcome at the party headquarters recently by the young generation of the party who commended him for coming to the country to get firsthand information on the condition of the young generation of the party.
Doma Williams disclosed to A-Z Newspaper that based on his findings having gone countrywide, he has noticed that there is need for the young generation wing of the party to brace up and get more young Sierra Leoneans on board. He said the current leadership is not knocking on doors to uplift the young generation of the party which he said will give victory to the party come 2023. He said as a northerner born in Lunsar, he knows the solution to the problems faced by the young generation in Kailahun, Koinadugu, the South, East and the Western Areas of the country. He said mechanized farming would solve the bread and butter issue youths are grumbling about. He disclosed that he has been putting modalities in place nationally and internationally for massive youth farms across the country.
He said the SLPP has demonstrated that it stands for the young generation with the series of activities the Office of the First Lady and that of the Presidency have been implementing namely the Free Sanitary Pad for Girls among others.
He has assured that when he assumes the office of the National Young Generation leader, he would link the young population of the country with those abroad for the benefit of the country in terms of engineering, agriculture and education.
Doma Williams, it could be recalled was born APC but started admiring SLPP politicians while attending primary school in Lunsar. One day, he pronounced in class that he wanted to be an SLPP politician and then he was booed at in class by his colleagues who were die hard APC children and his teacher saw the need to transfer him to another classroom to save him from his colleagues who by that time thought badly about SLPP due to the APC’s one party state of affairs.
