Hon. Neneh Lebbie Commends President Bio’s Agricultural Transformation Agenda

On Wednesday, 15th October 2025, the Parliament of Sierra Leone continued its debate on the address delivered by His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio during the State Opening of Parliament on Thursday, 7th August 2025.

Contributing to the debate, Hon. Neneh Lebbie, Member of Parliament for Bo District, based her submission on the principles of patriotism and nationalism. She commended President Bio for his exemplary leadership and transformative efforts in the agricultural sector.

Hon. Lebbie highlighted that the President’s “Feed Salone” initiative and the Five Big Game Changers represent a clear roadmap toward achieving food security and economic stability for Sierra Leone. She described agriculture as the backbone of the nation’s development, emphasizing that collective participation from all citizens is crucial to sustaining the government’s efforts.

The Honourable Member stressed the importance of strengthening the food value chain, promoting modern preservation techniques, and encouraging the involvement of rural youth in agriculture to increase productivity and create employment. She also called for renewed support for cocoa farmers through the introduction of improved seed varieties that could enhance yields and expand the country’s export potential.

Speaking on the fisheries sector, Hon. Lebbie commended the government for its progress, noting that “fishing has taken a new trajectory and is contributing significantly to the national economy.” However, she urged the relevant authorities to intensify surveillance and monitoring efforts to safeguard marine resources and ensure long-term sustainability.

Hon. Lebbie concluded her contribution by praising President Bio’s leadership in promoting national unity, women’s empowerment, and inclusive governance. She encouraged Sierra Leoneans to demonstrate patriotism and continue supporting government policies aimed at transforming lives and building a resilient national economy.
