Haven pulled nine hundred and forty-seven (947) points, S .E Konoyima also known as Grace or Blue House has clinched the first position of this year’s annual inter-House athletics sport meets of the Holy Ghost Pre_ Primary and Junior secondary schools in Sewafeh Town Nimiyama chiefdom kono District.
Lillian Ansumana also known as Peace or Yellow House came second with nine hundred and thirty nine (939) points, Jamie Sowa also known as Love or Orange House took the third position with nine hundred and six (906) points, whilst Binta Barrie otherwise known Hope or white House came first from the rear with eight hundred and eight (808) points.
The said inter House athletics sport meets organized by the aforementioned schools took place at the Roman Catholic primary school field in Sewafeh Town Nimiyama chiefdom Kono District. Rev. Israella Musa was in charge of the Holy Ghost praise Chapel in Sewafeh Town and also the headmistress of the above named schools, in an interview with this medium she maintained that the event was a three day annual inter House athletics sport meets in order to have the full participation of the pupils as playing is part of effective learning.
Explaining the essence of organizing the annual inter House athletics sport meets, Madam Musa foremost pointed out that the names given to the respective houses are to portray the virtues of the Christian domain, noting the essence of the said event annually is in line with the educational curriculum that looks at the various aspects of learning: Cognitive, psychomotor and affective.
She intimated our correspondent that her impressions about this year’s inter House athletics sport meets were the total participation of the pupils in all of the events and the intervention of God amidst the unfriendly weather condition that kept threatening them throughout the three days of this year’s events.
Rev. Israella Musa debunked the allegation that Blue House been named after the proprietor of the Holy Ghost pre-primary and junior secondary schools , Bishop S.E Konoyima is always favored by the sport officials to take the first position every year is baseless, adding the schools being a Christian institution believe in fair play. She said Blue and Yellow House masters and mistresses are very committed and have high level sportsmanship skills and as a result they keep taking the lead every year.
Speaking about the academic performance of the schools especially at external examinations the headmistress maintained that it has always been satisfactory since she assumed office in 2004 to date.
“When l assumed office as the headmistress there was no nursery school but l started one and to date pupils in my schools are performing extremely well madam Musa stressed.”
According to her, the Holy Ghost junior secondary school got the best BECE results in Nimiyama chiefdom Kono District this year as the school sent at least five pupils and all of them passed with the following aggregates: 9, 11, 12, 13 and 15. She commended parents and guardians for being supportive to the academic pursuit of their children or ward in her schools and urged them not to relent.
She pointed out that the following are some of the challenges her schools are faced with: structures to accommodate the growing number of pupils in the schools, funds to utilize the five arches of land the schools have, furniture, and what she called the lukewarm support from certain members of the Sewafeh community.
Talking about her preoccupied engagements yet the schools and her administration are performing well, Rev. Musa intimated this medium that her success stories all boils down what she referred to as proper planning. It is worth to note that madam Musa is occupying the various positions in Kono District: A woman of God, school administrator, lead facilitator, Advisory Committee member World Vision Sierra Leone Kono branch and Board member of the community Bank in Sewafeh Town Nimiyama chiefdom Kono District.
