Investigations into the Deep Eye Water market land where spontaneous construction of shops is ongoing have not been so far productive because according to the former Member of Parliament, John Sati Kargbo, the village Headman, Alhaji Ibrahim Sesay has dodged him number of times refusing him the opportunity to know from him how those plots of land landed in the hands of private individuals.
In an exclusive interview with John Sati Kargbo commonly known as Johnny, he told this medium that since his arrival from the United States of America, less than two months ago, he had sent to the Headman for them to have a chat over the land but could not succeed in his endeavor to get his side of the story. He said giving the manner at which people in the constituency are asking questions, he deems it fit to investigate if what is being rumored that portions of the land had been shared amongst authorities in Constituency 111 is anything to go by. He said as former MP and Constituency Development Chairman; he suspected some foul play over the market land pointing out that the remaining land after the construction of the market should have been reserved for expansion since the population is fast growing.
However, it has been alleged that there was a secret meeting initially between Councilor Mohamed Koroma aka Papa Tee, the Headman and his Secretary about the land deal.
The Councilor could not comment despite the effort made to get his side since he had involved in promoting the market somehow.
The Headman’s Secretary, Isheka Sesay aka Shaggy attacked this reporter on Wednesday afternoon in the village shouting and abusing publicly that they are not interested in this investigation that the media could say what they want to say.
Residents of the village, on condition of anonymity, have called for a full-scale probe into the market plots which according to them should be for the good of the village and not for certain individuals.
Deep Eye Water which is in the Western Rural district is one of the fastest growing villages with poor road network, lack of electricity and other basic amenities.
