At least five houses have been destroyed by a heavy storm leaving more than thirty (30) people homeless at small Sefadu in Gbense Chiefdom Kono District.
One of the storm victims, Aminata Jawara told this medium that on 5th October 2022 a heavy storm blew off her house and others at small Sefadu thereby destroying the said houses and other properties worth millions of Leones.
She maintained that with her five years’ experience whilst living at Small Sefadu she has never experienced such a heavy storm.
According to her the destruction caused by the said heavy storm cannot be unconnected with the indiscriminate cutting down of trees by timber loggers over the years without replenishing them.
Meanwhile, Kadiatu Fofanah a widow thanked God for their lives amid the said destruction caused by the heavy storm the worst ever in the past fifty years.
The storm victims have called on concerned authorities and the Government of Sierra Leone to come to their aid as their present situation has nothing to write home about.
A similar appeal has also been made by Councillor Mamadi Effornoh of ward 97 the affected community in Gbense Chiefdom Kono District.
