The National Olympic Committee of Sierra Leone has updated the media on the readiness of Team Sierra Leone ahead of the second edition of the African Beach Games, which will be held in Tunisia from June 23-30, 2023.

The African Beach Games is a multi-sport event that is held every two years. The games feature a variety of beach sports, including beach soccer, beach volleyball, and beach handball.

In his brief remarks, the president of the National Olympic Committee of Sierra Leone, Prince Sualley, noted the importance of the Hammamet Games and urged the athletes to bring home gold medals.

On his part, the Chef de Mission, Yayah Koroma, said five sporting disciplines—the ball, swimming, athletics, wrestling, and volleyball—will be represented. He added that the first batch of the delegation will depart Sierra Leone on June 21 for Tunis, while the second batch will depart on June 24 to compete in the games.

The President of the Sierra Leone Teqball Association, Unisa Deen Kargbo, stressed the constraints they have encountered in raising funds for the games.

Sierra Leone’s national swimmer, Joshua Wyse, will serve as the male flagbearer. He said he has trained very hard for the African Beach Games and is confident of winning a gold medal for Sierra Leone.

We hope that Team Sierra Leone will be successful in the African Beach Games.
