42yrs old Abdul Karim Koroma made another appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba road court No.1 in Freetown on two count charges ranging from Obtaining money by false pretenses contrary to section 32 (1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of offence on the 2nd March 2021 at Kingtom the western area in Freetown with intent to defraud obtained the sum of Eight million Leones (Le 8,000,000) from Ansumana Kanneh by falsely pretending that you have corrugated Step Zinc for sale knowing same to be false.
On count two at the same place and date with intent to defraud obtained the sum of fifty million Leones (Le 50,000,000) from Kadiatu Ngela by falsely pretending that you have eight hundred and eighty five pieces of corrugated Zinc, three, ten corrugated Corner ridges Zinc, thirty five pieces of corrugated gutter ridges Zinc and three kilogram roofing nails for sale knowing same to be false.
First Prosecution witness (PW1) Kadiatu Ngela a business woman said she knew the accused person through one Ejatu Kamara. The witness said she recalled sometimes in December 2020 to March 2021 something happened between herself and the accused person.
She said the accused was introduced to her as the person who deals in building materials and took him to her site to take various site measurements. After the process they agreed to supply the following materials; sand, declared corner ridge, roofing Zinc all amounted to the total sum of fifty two million Leones (Le 52,000,000.00). A receipt of eighteen million Leones was given to the witness by the accused person in the presence of one Sia and his friend.
PW1 continued that sometimes in 2021 she gave the accused person eight million Leones (Le 15,000,000.00) and on June 2021 gave the accused person twenty seven million Leones, and a receipt of twenty three million Leones was issued to the witness.
and another eight million Leones the witness said sometimes in June 2021 she gave the accused person twenty seven million Leones the accused person didn’t supply her the goods first week in September as he promised nor did he refund her money and she made statement at the Criminal Investigation Department Cid headquarters Pademba Road Freetown, the witness said she later received an information about the accused person upon receipt of the information she went to Wellington police post were she identified the accused and they were referred at the Criminal Investigation Department Cid headquarters Pademba
However Magistrate Kekura adjourned the matter to the 24th March 2021
