The Global Partnership for Education (GPE) has announced that the Board of the Global Partnership for Education has approved Sierra Leone’s access to indicative allocation for a regular system transformation grant in the tune of $17,976,000. The Board also indicated that they have outlined relevant steps that need to be taken before the remaining portion of the regular system trans formative grant allocation of about $4,494,000 can be accessed.
This was disclosed in a letter written to Sierra Leone’s Minister of Finance were the Board also affirmed approval of the strategic parameters for Global Partnership for Education support to Sierra Leone. the letter also indicates that the Board decision language, including the strategic parameter and the steps to access the remaining allocation, can be found in the annex attached to the correspondence letter.
Following that approval, the Global Partnership for Education encouraged Sierra Leone to commence the development of its grant application, including the selection grant agent to support the process. The letter further indicates that the grant application is expected to be completed and submitted within the next seven months. It also further advised that the grant agent must be selected by the local education group through a transparent process.
