The Deputy Minister of Information and Civic Education, Yusuf Keketoma Sandi has announced at the government press briefing held at Foreign Affairs Conference room that the government of Sierra Leone is planning to recruit migrant workers for employment in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
To accelerate employment facilities in Sierra Leone, the governments of Sierra Leone and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have signed a memorandum of understanding to employ Sierra Leoneans in Saudi Arabia.
“The embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Guinea where their office is located will oversee the recruitment process and accredit private employment agencies to carry out the hiring,” Keketoma Sandi reads
Keketoma Sandi also said that, the Ministry of Labour had accredited three medical centers that would conduct the examination test for prospective workers. These medical centers include, Ramsy Medical Laboratories, Ecomed Medical Center and Sumah Hospital.
“it is crucial for individuals interested in the recruitment process to engage with these authorized agencies and medical centers to avoid fraudulent activities,” Keketoma said.
Keketoma Sandi emphasized that, the Ministry of Labour and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had agreed on the travel agencies responsible to involve in the process. They also include, SOS Global Investment Agency Sierra Leone, Human Resource Consultant Global Sierra Leone Limited, Sumas Travel Consultant Sierra Leone Limited and Season Limited.
“The Government of Sierra Leone through its commitment to providing job opportunities for its citizens is actively working with Saudi Arabia to ensure a transparent process,” Keketoma Sandi told reporters.
He furthered that, the collaboration between both nations reflects the effort to facilitate meaningful employment prospects while safeguarding the interests and wellbeing of the Sierra Leoneans workforce.
“Prospective job seekers are advised to stay updated with official announcements and information from the the Ministry of Labour regarding the recruitment process. The government remains dedicated to promoting and facilitating access to decent employment opportunities for its citizens, and endeavors to ensure that the recruitment process is fair, transparent and conducted through the approved agencies and medical centers,” Keketoma Sandi reads the release.
