Gold Smith Sellers Charge for Le15m theft

Gold Smith seller Pateh Bah, Santigie Fofanah and Joseph Jusu Sandy has been arraigned before Magistrate Sahr Keikura of Pademba Road Court in Freetown on two count charges conspiracy to commit a felony contrary to law and receiving stolen goods contrary to section 33 (1) of the larceny Act 1916.

The one of the complainant, Lewis Nichols said the first and second accused persons are staff working for his Security Agency, but have no idea about third complainant. He said he is court because of his missing jewelries, and revealed that many other things have been missing on several occasions but both accused have been denied the allegation.  

The witness continued that on a fateful day he was at home when he saw his wrist watch on the hand of the first accused. He said he came down stairs to ask him, the accused accepted that he took it from his room. The said he immediately called the Police to arrest him. The accused later showed the complainant where the properties were hidden.

The complainant told the court that the first items he lost was his power bank that cost $150 equivalent to one million and five hundred thousand Leones, bracelets cost $400 equivalent to four million Leones, and wrist watch that cost $1000 USD equivalent to ten million Leones.

According to the charge sheet it is alleged that sometimes in January 2021 at No. 11 Taylor Lewis Drive Juba Lumley, Freetown conspired together to commit a felony and stole one hundred and fifty dollars equivalent to one million five hundred thousand Leones (le 1, 500, 000.00) one Gold Bracelets valued four hundred United State dollars equivalent to four million Leones and many other properties belonging Daniel Ojeah, Henry Williams and Lewis Nichols.

Lawyer A.B.D John representing both accused persons applied for bail that the second accused is a Sierra Leonean and has a fixed aboard and that one of the accused person is a pupil and he should enjoy the free education program counsel made an application to section 79 (3) of CPA No 32 of 1965.

Bail was granted to the second and third accused person in the sum of forty million Leones, while the first accused person pleaded guilty and he is at the male correctional centre.

Magistrate Keikura has decided to sentence the accused person because he has pleaded guilty to the offence on the next adjourned.
