At a presser held at Youyi building Freetown the media was updated on a grant given to the Ministry of Health and partners to combat different types of diseases in the country.
The Global Fund Country Coordinating Mechani Sierra Leone in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Sanitation and the Catholic Relief Service are key players in the implementation of the aforementioned grants,
It has been disclosed that the Global fund is a partnership designed to accelerate the end of AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria as epidemics.
The new grant is a total of of$157,196,218 allocated to the Ministry of Health and Sanitation and Catholic Relief Service (CRS) will be principal recipients (PRS) of this said grant with an allocation of $116,540,360 to Ministry of health and sanitation and $9,104,603 to catholic relief service.
Moreover, the Global fund approves the C19 RM grant of $31,551,255 to fight against covid-19 with a particular emphasis to ensure that the pandemic does not have effect on the implementation of HIV AIDS, TB and Malaria in Sierra Leone
The Ministry of Health and Sanitation and Catholic Relief Service will be recipients of the said grant with an allocation of $25, 0588,213 to MOHS and $6,493,042 to CRS.
The total approved grant by the global fund is $157,196,218 to be implemented by the Ministry of Health and Sanitation-PR1 and Catholic Relief Service-PR2. Both PRs will implement these grants from 1st July 2021 to 30th June 2024.
These two principal Recipients will work with sub-recipients to implement the said grants and collaborate with NACOVERC to accelerate the fight against Covid-19 and other related epidemic diseases.
It could be recalled that the president of the republic of Sierra Leone his Excellency Rtd Brigadier Dr. Julius Maada Bio launched the global fund approved grants of$157,196,218 to fight AIDS, TB, Malaria and Covid-19 on Wednesday 8th September, 2021 at the Credentials Room, State House, Sierra Leone.
