As he continues to provide basic amenities for communities around Freetown and other part of the country, the Mayor to-be for the Freetown City Council under the ticket of the Sierra Leone Peoples Party, Mohamed Gento Kamara, has support with a cash of over Le 100 million (Old Leone), one truck granite stones and two truck of loaded sand for the completion of the Brima Lane Biatula Masjid, Portee Community at the Eastern part of Freetown.
According to the Financial Secretary for the Masjid Biatula Portee, Momoh Sesay said the completion of the project was an expansion which was undertaking in 2019 during the Covid-19 period. He added that it was agreed by the stakeholders of the Masjid for the expansion of the Masjid because of the growing numbers of the membership.
He pointed out that the amount of the Muslim worshipers in the community has grown and that the Masjid could no longer accommodate the Muslim worshippers in the community.
Sesay informed that through the Leadership of Luawa Lavalie, the Coordinator for Mohamed Gento Kamara, at the Portee Committee, a letter was sent to Gento for support for the expansion of the Masjid of which their letter was honored.
“After we agreed to expand the Mosque, letters were distributed to stakeholders for financial support of which the Mayoral Aspirant for the SLPP was one of them. Through the help of Lauwa Lavalie, who has been helping us in this community, he took us to Gento and we requested him to help complete the Masjid. And he asked us to make an estimate that will complete the Mosque”, he explained.
The Biatula Masjid Financial Secretary continued to explain that they went back and prepared the estimate for the completion of the Masjid and fortunately, the first estimate of Le 67 Million was approved by Gento and the money was also disposed of. He further explained that Gento also sent a trip of dumper sand, 100 bags of cement and two granite stones for the completion of the Masjid.
In the same community, residents of the community have been suffering from getting clean drinking water for the past three months, with the support of Ahmed Gento Kamara, the community can now boost the 24/7 borehole water supply to the community.
Davidson Mathew Fellie, one of the Residents of Portee Community, thanked and appreciated the SLPP Aspirant for rehabilitating the only source of water supply in the community. He disclosed that over 3000 thousand residents usually benefit from that particular source of water for the community.
Gibrill Bangura, who has also benefited two tricycles from Ahmed Gento Kamara expressed thanks and appreciation to Gento for providing two brand new tricycles for cleaning the Portee Community. He said before this time, there was no job for him and few of his colleagues but with the provisions of the two tricycles by Gento, they were now engaged in cleaning the community.
Chairman of Jack-Pump Youth Organisation, Brima Lane Car Wash, Gibrill Sesay, also expressed thanks and appreciation for the generosity Gento accorded them.He stated that they appreciate the government for constructing the car wash for them and that Gento Kamara has recently, gave them Le 33 Million to buy water tank and other equipment to use for washing cars.
Giving highlights of the contributions made by Mohamed Gento Kamara at the Portee Community, the Coordinator for Gento for Portee Brima Lane Community, Lauwa Lavalie said for far too long the community has been suffering from clean drinking water. He added that members of the community appealed to him to plead to Gento to rehabilitate their borehole water.
Lavalie further explained that immediately, after informing Gento about the plight of the people in his community, Le 15 million was provided for the rehabilitation of the borehole water supply at the community.
“Le 15 million was provided for the rehabilitation of the borehole water supply, and also over Le 67 million was provided for the completion of the Biatula Masjid at the Brima Lane Community. He had also given over Le 30 million to the Portee Car Wash Community to buy equipment for washing cars”, he highlighted.
The Coordinator called on the members of the community and locals of Freetown in general, to vote in Mohamed Gento Kamara as Mayor under the ticket of the Sierra Leone Party in the June 24th General Elections. He emphasized that Gento has not won the Mayoral Position but he has helped so many people in diverse ways across the country. He assured locals that Gento Kamara would be the best thing ever if voted for him as a Mayor of Freetown.
