The out gone Local Unit Commander of the Tankoro Police Divisional Headquarters in Koidu City, Kono District, Deputy Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Bandabla, has commended the A- Z Multimedia particularly A-Z Newspaper for practicing what he called modern journalism coupled with development journalism.
The former Police boss of the Tankoro Police Divisional Headquarters made the commendation owing to the recent reportage of the aforementioned media institution with the caption “Lack of utility vehicle: residents of Koidu City blame police for neglecting their constitutional responsibilities in Kono District”. According to the former Local unit Commander of the Tankoro Police Divisional Headquarters, the said news caption was very strong but it has yielded good divided not only for the Tankoro Police Divisional Headquarters but also other Police Divisions across the country with new vehicles each to ease the day to day operations of the beneficiary Police Divisions across the Country.
He therefore, expressed thanks and appreciation to the management of the Sierra Leone Police especially the Inspector General of Police, for the Provision of the brand New vehicles to certain Police Divisions across the country. He added that prior to the provision of the said utility vehicle, his former division found it very difficult to perform its duty very well for lack of utility vehicle. He said with the provision of the vehicles his former division and others that benefited would in no doubt change the mind sets of certain members of the public regarding the neglect of their constitutional responsibilities.
He on behalf of his successor Assistance Commissioner of Police Kaifalah Mohamed Bangura, assured the general public and management of the Sierra Leone Police force that the vehicles would be used judiciously.
The Former LUC Tankoro Police Divisional headquarters is transferred to the headquarter of the Sierra Leone Police at George Street in Freetown. In a separate development, police at the criminal investigation department at the Tankoro Police Divisional Headquarters in Koidu City, Kono District , have investigated and charged to court, a matter involving fourteen years old girl formerly of Kensay Community in Koidu City. The fourteen year old girl allegedly died during FGM initiation. The matter according to police source was charged as conspiracy to wit murder.
