Pupils who performed extremely well in the 2022 Basic Education certificate Examination (BECE) in Kono District have received awards and scholarships from the Abu Aiah Koroma and Dankay Evelen Koroma Memorial Excellent awards and scholarships. The ceremony was supported by the daughter of the late aforementioned parents the former vice president of ECOWAS Her Excellency Finda Koroma.
Addressing the audience madam Koroma foremost thanked the local authorities of Kono district for supporting and acknowledging her efforts towards the human capital development of her district of birth and Sierra Leone as a whole. She further commended president Bio for also supporting education and other developments in Kono district and the country a whole and entreated him to do more.
She promised to continue with such gestures in honor of her late beloved parents and therefore admonished beneficiaries of the awards and scholarships to treat their academic work seriously as quality education is the only key to sustainable success.
Conclusively, Madam Finda Koroma intimated all parents that the awards and scholarships presented are in line with the passion her parents had for education.
The official presentation of the afore said awards and scholarships to the deserving pupils attracted the presence of the resident minister eastern region KASE BOYA and other distinguished personalities in Kono district and Eastern region as a whole .
making a statement the paramount chief of Tankoro Chiefdom Kono district P.C Paul .N. Saquee thanked madam Finda Koroma for such laudable good will gesture noting this not the first time madam Koroma has supported children in their educational pursuit in Kono District and the country as a whole. ‘’ My sister has not only limited her supports to education but developments in different sphere of life P.C Saquee boasted’’ He therefore urged her not to relent as the reward for good work is more work. Philp Kanu representative of the ministry of education Kono district appreciated Madam Koroma for not only supporting the deserving pupils but for also complementing the tireless efforts of his ministry in terms of effecting quality education in the district and the country as a whole.
Meanwhile, beneficiaries of the awards and scholarships presented lavished praises on their benefactor and promised to live up to the abounding expectations of both their parents and Finda Koroma. They pleaded with madam Koroma to do more.
