As another Member of Parliament from the opposition All Peoples Congress (APC) party in the person of Hon. Alfred Thompson has joined Hon Mohamed Bangura to represent their party and district, one time Member of Parliament Hon. Siragin Munirr Rollings Kamara has called on the remaining MPs to take their respective seats in the well of the House.
Siragin Rollings Kamara made this clarion call after successfully escorting Hon Thompson to Parliament last week to do the paper work and subscribe to the oath of office respectively.
Speaking to this medium, he said APC should play its role as an opposition party until 2028 when the country will again take to the polls. “We have to come back strong so let us concentrate on how to make the lives of our people better”, he admonished his party members.
He noted that boycotting is not the solution to the predicament of the party which he said allowed many things to distract them during the previous electioneering era.
He revealed that when he and nine other MPs were removed from Parliament following the 2018 election, it was resolved that the other MPs would not take their seats but they had to rush to take their seats citing excuses that they did not want to lose their seats in Parliament at that time. “There is precedence for Thompson and Bangura to take their seats despite the boycott stance the party still maintains”, Siragin blasted.
He said APC should sit with President Bio to iron out the current political deadlock for the good of the country noting that if the President fails it will affect the nation considerably.
Speaking on the issue of constitutional review, the former Law Marker noted that its passing should have addressed the political problem the country currently faces.
He lauded the appointment of Vice President Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh to lead the reconciliation drive as a step in the right direction for plnation cohesion which he said the nation deserves after a rocky electioneering process. He maintained that national cohesion can lead to development stressing the need for foreign demonstrators to pipe down as their actions hinder the progress of the country, he warned.
