A-Z Independent check at the Foreign Affairs and International Corporation in relation to allegation of Mende tribal promotion as imputed by opposition All Peoples Congress Member of Parliament has turned out to be an arrant lie.
The allegation was made in the well of parliament during the debate to confirm nominees of the Peace and National Cohesion Commission. Setting up the commission is just a laudable move and speaks to the sincerity of the President Julius Maada Bio government to unite this country, but it is less surprising that we will have unfortunate comments coming up to water down the plus.
Specifically APC Chief Whip Hon. Hassan A Sesay made the unfounded claim that nine Mendes have been promoted but could not come with names to substantiate what has been described as a lazy yet malisons charge with the propensity of stirring political unrest.
Our check at the Foreign Ministry has on the contrary cleared that strategic institution; in so far as the leadership structure at the moment reflects equal opportunity and inclusivity.
Here are the facts: Acting Director General Prince Cole is from Bonthe and not a Mende. Director General Policy Sullay Mannah Kpukumu is a Mende from the Krim chiefdom in Pujehun. Isha Sillah nee Bangura is a blue blooded APC and could be remembered as one of those that were sharing APC Tee shirts in the Ministry. This government promoted her to Director General Operations. Director of Europe is Ahmad Tejan Kabbah, a Mandingo. Allan Logan, a Creole is Director of Multi-Lateral division. Victor Sheriff is Director of Africa. Abbass Kamara, not a Mende is head of legal Affairs. Azziz Turay also not a Mende is Director of Diaspora Affairs.
The facts have been laid bare to head-off a malicious propaganda of a desperate party seeking a comeback using below the belt tactics. And our investigation has unearthed that the ministry is even magnanimous to house moles, snitching lies to make the government that is above their tribalism style of politics look bad. We are saying it hurts when make it an agenda to scandalous one tribe that is not responsible for your political setbacks. And we are poised to put an end to such madness and uphold the sanctity of all tribes to hold out their own in the public space.
Beyond the foreign ministry the opposition suggestion that the civil service is dominated by Mendes is a scandalous lie, lacking in scientific data. APC is a party that is not thorough in national policy analysis to have the time and resource to conduct a survey that could come out with data on heads of ministries department and agencies in telling a story of disproportionate tribal appointment.
The serious implication of using the tribe as a political diatribe to make headway is an anathema and we are poised to kill such tendency right from the get go. Those politicians who push such bush to town are going to be marked as public enemies to be pilloried sufficiently.
