For Wounding: Petty trader sentenced to 6months imprisonment

22yrs-old Joseph Haffner a  Petty trader made his first appearance before Magistrate Peter Gogra of Pademba road court No.6 in Freetown on two count charges to wit Wounding contrary to the section 20 of the offences against the person Act 1861 and Assault occasioning actual bodily harm contrary to section 47 of the offences against the person Act 1861.

According to the particulars of offence on Saturday 12th November 2022 at No.10 Leicester village the mountain rural district the western area in Freetown maliciously wounded and assaulted Haja Bangura in a manner thereby occasioning her actual bodily harm.

The charges were read and explained to the accused person and pleaded guilty.

The prosecutor Musu Edna Kpulun told the bench that the fact as charge no available records against the accused person.

The accused person was unrepresented and he pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy. Magistrate Gogra due to the plea mitigation by the accused person he said taken into consideration that the accused person is a first time offender  sentenced the accused person six months to the male correctional center in Freetown.
