Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Ross Road Court No. 1 yesterday has cautioned and discharged George Bayoh who had spent eight consecutive months in remand without a trial.
Magistrate Kekura before discharging the accused, having perused the file, told the prosecution team headed by Assistant Superintendent of Police ASP Osman M. Bangura that the accused had spent eight (8) consecutive months behind bars without any prosecution witness.
As a result, Magistrate Kekura discharged the matter for want of prosecution.
The accused was arraigned before the court on two counts charges of conspiracy contrary to law and larceny contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.
It was alleged that the accused, on Thursday 29th December 2022 at 154 Kissy Road in Freetown, conspired with unknown persons to commit a crime to wit, larceny.
The charge furthered that the accused on same date and place in Freetown, stole a Star TVS motorbike with registration number ASY 818 valued at fifteen thousand Leones (NLe15, 000) property belonging to Abdul Karim Kamara while in custody of Mohamed Sesay.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Osman M. Bangura was prosecuting the matter.
