Police Constable 13716 Stevens J attached to the scientific support unit, at the Criminal Investigation Department has tendered six hundred and fifty-five wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Kush.
The accused in the above matter, Ibrahim Bangura is before magistrate Sahr Kekura of Ross Road court No.1 for Preliminary Investigation for unlawfully possession of dried leaves suspected to be Kush.
Led in evidence by Assistant Superintendent of Police Osman Mohamed Bangura, the police witness recalled receiving exhibits from detective police Constable 13108 Kamara S attached at the Transnational organized crime unit Hastings on Wednesday 13th February 2023.
He’s said he received six hundred and fifty-five wraps of dried leaves weighing 33.10 grams seized from the accused Ibrahim Bangura of Queen Elizabeth Road Kissy dockyard for examination and analysis.
He said he was tasked to identify the substances to know whether they have narcotics.
The witness said twenty warps were taken from the exhibit found with the accused for an independent physical examination performed on the sample.
The witness said identification letters were labelled on each sample as ABC and put on a plate for microscopic examination.
He said the suspected sample AB and C are suspected to be dried leaves with a sticky fume and cogent products.
The police witness said in view of the analysis sample ABC are dried leaves show traces of syntactic cannabinoid being solution added to sample ABC indicated CBD.
In conclusion, it was arrived at that sample ABC were positive of synthetic cannabinoid the main ingredient found in Kush. He said the report is true and correct to the best of his knowledge and skill.
The witness said he reduced the findings to a report which he handed over to the investigating officer. The complied report was produced and tender to form part of the court’s records
The matter was adjourned to the 29th of May 2023 for defence counsel to cross-examine the witness.
