40 yrs Amara Daboh, a hustler has been arraigned before Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Pademba Road Court No. 1 for breaking and stealing at the National Revenue Authority sub office.
The accused was arraigned before the court for Preliminary hearing with case file number C/S 2837/ 2022 on a count charge of office breaking and Larceny contrary to section 26(1) of the Larceny Act of 1961.
It was alleged on the charge sheet that on Friday 11th of November 2022, at the National Revenue Authority sub office at No. 11 and 13 Ecowas street in Freetown with intent to steal, the accused break and entered into the office of the tax manager Madam Christians Konima Jalloh.
In the police file, progress report on the alleged case revealed that on the date of the incident, Alimamy Kamara the office assistant of the rent department at NRA assisted by John Saio Conteh arrested and presented the accused to the police after found carrying out the crime.
After the charge has been put to the accused by the court clerk, the prosecutor Inspector Kadie Taylor informed the Bench that she is not going on with the matter because she has not yet have conference with complainant and the witnesses.
She assured the Bench that she will be commencing with her matter on the next adjourned date.
Defence counsel, H. Thullah applied for bail on behalf of his client citing section 79 of the Criminal Procedure Act of 1961. He said his client is a Sierra Leonean and has reliable person to stand as surety to ensure that he is present in court whenever the matter may come up. Defense counsel further stated that his client is not a flight risk and has a fix aboard.
Having heard the application, Magistrate Marke Ngegba, refused the accused bail and adjourned the matter the 4th of December 2022.
