In the Sexual Offences Court presided by Justice Alhaji Momoh Jah Stevens has on Friday 29th July 2022 sentenced a 33 years old Mohamed James Kallon to 30 years improvement after the court found him guilty of sexual offences charge.
The accused Mohamed James Kallon was before Justice Alhaji Momoh Jah Stevens on 3 counts of sexual offence indictment of which he was found guilty on two counts and was dismissed on count 3.
Justice Alhaji Momoh Jah Stevens in his summoning up address said the State Prosecutor J.B Kamara Esq filed an application for trial by a judge alone instead of judge and Jury and application for a trial by a judge alone made was signed by the Attorney General pursuant to section 144 (2) of the Criminal Procedure Act 1965 as Repealed and Replaced by section 3 of the Criminal Procedure Act (Amendment) Act 1981, Act no.11 of 1981.
Application was granted by Justice Alhaji Momoh Jah Stevens pursuant to section 144(2) of the Criminal Procedure Act 1965 as Amended.
The Judge said the Prosecution offer no further evidence on count 3 against the accused person as ordered by the direction of the bench.
The accused pleaded for mercy, but was sentenced to 15 years Imprisonment on count 1 and 15 years Imprisonment on count 2 and discharged on count 3 and ordered for both sentences to run concurrently.
