 Moses Sahr Brima, Dennis Browne and Osman Bangura appeared before Justice Unisa Kamara on four counts charge of Conspiracy and Robbery with Aggravation on 24th May 2023 at the High Court of Sierra Leone in Freetown.

 Statement of offence was Conspiracy and the Particulars of Offence stated that on 28th April 2022, at Freetown in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone, conspired together and with other persons unknown to commit a felony to wit; that which was termed as Robbery with Aggravation.

Also, the Statement of Offence for Dennis Browne and Osman Bangura was positioned as Robbery with Aggravation contrary to Section 23 (1) (a) of the Larceny Act 1916 as repealed and replaced by Statutes (Criminal Law) adoption in the Amendment Act No. 16 of 1971.

The Particular of Offence revealed that on the 28th of April 2022, in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Dennis Browne and Osman Bangura otherwise the accused persons were armed with a machete, robbed Kadiatu Kai Sesay of One Techno Air 12 Mobile Phone valued two thousand New Leones (2,000.00), One Techno Button Mobile Phone valued 700.00 New Leones, One Leather Sandal valued 200.00 New Leone, Fiscal Cash of the sum 4,300.00 and ten United States Dollar equivalent in Leones to one hundred and thirty-three New Leones: all of the total of 7,534.00 New Leones, properties of Kadiatu Kai Sesay.

 Particulars of Offence for count three of the same Statement of Offence explained that Dennis Browne and Osman Bangura on the 28th April 2022, at Freetown in the Western Area, were armed with a machete and robbed Fidelia Yombo Sesay One Samsung S-8 Edge Mobile Phone valued four thousand New Leones (4,000.00), One H-Mobile Phone valued 100.00 New Leones, three Ladies Bags each valued 150.00 New Leones all to the total of 450.00 New Leones, five hundred United States Dollar, equivalent in Leones to six thousand New Leones and five hundred Euros (500 E) equivalent in Leones to six thousand and nine hundred New Leones, all to the total of eighteen million, one hundred thousand Old Leones, properties of Fidelia Yombo Sesay.

Also, the Particulars of Offence for count four of the same Statement of Offence portrayed that Dennis Browne and Osman Bangura on the 28th April 2022, at Freetown in the Western Area were armed with a machete and robbed Dorris Faith Tarawallie on One IPhone S.E Mobile Phone valued 3,000.00 New Leones, property of Dorris Faith Tarawallie.

Prosecuting Witness Constable Messie Yei Tommy attached at the Criminal Investigation Department Headquarters in Freetown admitted that she recognised all accused persons; adding that she investigated the matter together with Sergeant 897 Jenkins.

She furthered that on 28th April 2022 whiles on duty at the Hastings Police Station in the Eastend of Freetown, a case was assigned to her and other officers. Constable Messie Yei Tommy said they visited the crime scene in order to embark on an investigation of the matter.

She said she received a call from the complainant Kadiatu Kai Sesay about the said incident above. She noted that the first accused informed her that he knew the second and third accused persons upon his arrest.        

Constable Sesay added that 13469 Kanu cautioned and questioned the first accused which she recorded in English. At the conclusion of obtaining the statement, she read the statement to the first accused in Krio which he admitted by affixing his right-hand thumbprint.

She told the court that she received a call from the complainant Kadiatu Kai Sesay explaining the first alleging that the first accused approached her and confessed that he knew the second and third accused persons; emphasizing that they broke into the house of the complainant.

They were separately cautioned and questioned by 13469 Kanu and she separately read the statement in English and explained it separately to them which they separately admitted by affixing their right-hand thumbprint.

Justice Unisa Kamara requested the accused persons whether they have separate questions to ask the Prosecuting Witness. At that juncture, the second and third accused persons interrogated the Prosecuting Witness Constable Messie Yei Sesay thoroughly on her investigation and their arrest.

Patrick Lumumba Williams Esq was the State Counsel and Justice Unisa Kamara denied bail for the three accused persons. The matter was adjourned to 31st May 2023.
