The Makeni Resident Judge Justice Unisa Kamara has denied bail to a vehicle driver for allegedly penetrating an 8 year old girl in Makeni.
According to the Police charge sheet, on Monday 2nd May, 2022 in the Bombali Judicial District in Republic of Sierra Leone a driver from a renowned Bank in Makeni was alleged of sexually penetrating an 8 year old Girl on the aforesaid date.
The survivor’s aunt maintained that the accused called the 8 years old girl including some other girls and took them in his vehicle , after some time the accused singled out her daughter and took her to his palour where he allegedly penetrated her.
Meanwhile, when the aunt of the survivors returned home ,she met her 8 years Old girl in her room bitterly crying “I asked her what was the problem” she could not explained but she later told me that the accused whom she used to called her uncle has penetrated her and threatened her not to explained to anybody.
If she there explains it to anyone he will do more harm to her, the survivor’s aunt stated.
However, the survivor’s aunt wasted no time to report the matter to the police and the officers upon the report , the police officers arrested the accused and was placed in police custody nothing after police investigation the matter was charged to court.
Notwithstanding, the State Council that was prosecuting the matter led a witness an Officer of the family support Unit, testifying before the court on Monday 17th October, 2022 said after the aunt of the survivor made a statement.
They arrested the accused adding that they obtained statements from him, the aunt and the survivors including other people and they later visited the scene of crime where they took photos of the survivor when she was bleeding and later sent her to the Hospital for medical examination.
In the court house on Monday 17th October, 2022 the defense Council for the accused after plenty objections for his client, later when the Judge listened to the witness statement from the family support unit, the Judge denial bail to the driver, whilst waiting for another witness to come and testify in the court house.
State Council Joseph A.K. Sesay Prosecuted the matter and a legal Aid Board Lawyer O.B. stood as defense counsel.
