At the Criminal session in the High Court of Sierra Leone, Salamatu Deen Kargbo made another appearance before Justice Adrian Fisher in the High Court No.1 in Freetown on one count charge to wit Murder contrary to law.
According to the particulars of offence on the 6th December 2020 at Kambia the Northern Province of the Republic of Sierra Leone murdered Sergeant 1068 Simeon Allieu.
First Prosecution witness (PW1) Bangura who lives in Kambia as a student said he knew the accused person as his Neighbor, while the deceased as well. He said he recalled the 20th December 2020 something transfers between the complainant and deceased. Pw1 said on that day he was coming from central part of the town at around 12am in the morning, and saw the accused person. He added that the said Simeon Allieu (now deceased) after a while he had a voice behind him from a distance as he was working faster, while the accused was crying for help.
PW 1continues that he was baffled as to where the voice was coming from on his arrival he saw the deceased in one gutter and himself and the accused person assisted the now deceased from the gutter. The witness said at that time the deceased was unable to stand by himself, but assisted him to his room for a while.
Cross examination by State Counsel Solomon C. Kekura who put it to the witness that he cannot tell the date the incident occurred; the witness said yes. He also agreed that the deceased was in the drainage and never knew what led him into the drainage.
The prosecution’s closes its case and case for the defence. While Komba Kanu Esq remains defence counsel.
Justice Fisher admonished the 12 Jury sworn that he will make the statement of the witness and the accused person available to them.
The Matter was adjourned to the 11th March 2022.
