The accused Francis Tibble was before the principal magistrate Sahr Kekura of the Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown for impersonating the Inspector General of Police Ambrouse Michael Sovula Magistrate Kekura discharged the matter for want of prosecution.
The accused was before the court on one count charge on Identity theft and Impersonation contrary to Section 42 (2) (b) (I) of the cyber security and crime Act 2021.
Police alleged that the accused Francis Tibble on Friday 10th December 2021 at No.17 Upper Brook Street, Freetown certain individual using sim Number 080070559 and 075247676 Fraudulently impersonated the Inspector General of the Sierra Leone Police Force Ambrouse Michael Sovula and obtained the sum of four hundred and ten thousand Leones through orange money transaction from Idrissa Sheriff with intent to gain advantage for yourself.
On his first appearance no plea was taken and bail was refused and was remanded in custody after nine appearances made in court.
Magistrate Kekura discharged the matter for want of prosecution pursuant to Section 94 of the Criminal Procedure Act No.32 of 1965, while Sergeant 9939 Lahai Mohamed prosecuted the matter.
