Taking the witness stand and led in his examination in chief by Assistant Superintendent of Police Osman Mohamed Bangura, the fourth prosecution witness (PW4), Sergeant 8577 Alimamy Abu Kamara attached to the exhibit clerk office at Kissy police station, recognized both accused persons in the dock.
The exhibit clerk when questioned, responded that he is responsible to receive police exhibits brought to the station on matters that are under investigation and producing the same in court when needed.
He said on the 18th of October 2022 he was on duty, detective police constable 18882 Mambu M handed over to him four million Leones equivalent to four thousand new Leones as an exhibit for safekeeping.
He said he recorded the same on the court exhibit with serial number RCE/2022 and since then the money has been in his custody.
The money was produced and tendered in court and was checked by the court clerk to ascertain the amount.
Before the adjourned date, the defence counsel for the second accused C Kabia enquired as to whether the prosecution has closed their case because according to him, he intends to make a no-case submission.
Alimamy Jalloh was charged with burglary and larceny whiles the second accused Isatu Kamara was charged with receiving stolen goods contrary to the law.
It was alleged that sometime in January this year, the first accused Alimamy Jalloh stole the sum of four million Leones and other properties which he gave to the second accused belonging to the complainant, Abu Mansaray.
Magistrate Sahr Kekura said he has to check if there is a case to answer and that his ruling would not create a hardship on the first accused person.
He adjourned the matter to 18th May a date the defense counsel for the second accused said he will be making his no-case submission.
