One house wife, Iye Johnny has appeared before Magistrate Santigie Bangura at the Magistrate Court No.1 in Bo last week for allegedly beating her husband, Mark Johnny.
According to the particulars of the offence, the accused Mrs. Johnny in February this year severely beat her husband in the full view of the public. The husband had reportedly disciplined their daughter to have enraged the wife.
The complainant, Mr. Johnny testified that this is not the first time his wife has been beating him and has decided to seek legal redress in court in order to put a stop to it.
During a cross examinations, the accused told the court that, apart from the high handedness of her husband on their daughter, he has been also severely hitting her at home and the latest being at a time she was pregnant.
While calling on the Magistrate to temper justice with mercy, she continued to deny charges against her. She promised to be a good house wife.
Magistrate Bangura, however, fined her one million or face a one year imprisonment in order to serve as a deterrent to other housewives who may want to copy the same act.
