 On the continuation of the approvals of government appointed persons at various Ministries, Departments and Agencies for another perfect spell of office, the House of Parliament of the Republic of Sierra Leone has approved the newly appointed Chief Executive of National Public Procurement Authority (NPPA) Fodie Konneh on Thursday at the well of Parliament.

It could be recalled that earlier last month, His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio appointed another trailblazer and administrative-oriented Chief Executive of the National Public Procurement Authority in the person of Fodie Konneh to continue with the good work of his predecessor otherwise the now Commissioner General of NRA Chief Ibrahim Brima Swarray. The appointment of the New Chief Executive of NPPA received National applause as the perfect replacement to head the country’s National Public Procurement Authority.

Before his appointment on 4th September 2023 by his President Bio, Chief Konneh was the Director of Procurement at the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Health and Sanitation among others.

The new Chief Executive was described by many at home and abroad as one of the country’s finest and top-notch Procurement experts in the annals of Sierra Leone history. Being a calm and calculated young man, Chief Konneh remained extremely passionate about ensuring the effectiveness of NPPA as a regulatory Authority and monitoring Public procurement in Sierra Leone on all procurement activities.

Following his parliamentary approval, the committee on appointment in the well of parliament described the new Chief Executive “fine leader with a top-notch record in service delivery and dedication to duty.” The House believed he would excel in his tenure and make Sierra Leone proud.

In response to the question on innovations which he would bring in boosting the National Public Procurement Authority, the new Chief Executive of NPPA reaffirmed his commitment to building on the beautiful legacies of his predecessor, improving enforcement of procurement processes, capacitating the Authority and broadening stakeholders’ collaboration in maintaining value for money.

Hon. Ibrahim Tawa Conteh, Clark of Parliament said some nominees were appointed five years ago, but today they were not. “I encourage you to work in the best interest of the people of Sierra Leone and be the torchbearer of President Bio’s commitment,” The Clark of Parliament said. He urged those who were reappointed by President Bio to step up their game and hit the ground running.

Honorable Members of Parliament zoomed in on the appointment of the new NPPA Chief Executive with their kind spoken words for his excellent performance in the various sectors he had worked in recent times; adding the former Director of Procurement at the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Health and Sanitation served as a very humbled man with a high sense of duty and professionalism.
