Fitter Appears in Court Over Alleged Larceny of Truck Parts in Waterloo

Alpha Kargbo was on Tuesday, 6th January 2026, dragged to court by the complainant, Messie Maheni Kamara, for allegedly stealing various parts from a DAF truck and a Mercedes-Benz truck, valued at over Three Hundred Thousand New Leones, while they were parked at Kamara’s garage in Waterloo.

Kargbo appeared before Principal Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah at Freetown Magistrate Court No. 1, facing two counts of larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act, 1916.

According to the charge sheet, Kargbo, sometime in 2023 at New York Garage, Waterloo, allegedly stole the following items from a DAF truck (registration ARK 660) and a Mercedes-Benz truck (registration AQM 644): one PACCAR PX-5, one air intake, exhaust system, alternator, differential locks, air supply system, and other items valued at Three Hundred and Eighty-Three Thousand New Leones, all property of Messie Maheni Kamara.

Shortly after the charges were read and explained, Kargbo pleaded not guilty to the offences.

The prosecutor, ASP Ibrahim Mansaray, served the necessary documents to the unrepresented defendant to enable him to prepare his case after the prosecution closes its case. ASP Mansaray also requested an adjournment to call his first witness to testify.

Kargbo was denied bail, and the matter was adjourned to 13th January 2026 for further hearing.
