First Lady Fatima Bio has shown commitment to reinforcing an equitable society for women during a fundraising dinner organized by the Eastern Region Women’s Network on Sunday, 17th November 2024.

The event, held in support of women’s empowerment initiatives, highlighted women’s critical role in driving progress throughout Sierra Leone.

In her speech, Mrs. Bio emphasized the ongoing efforts of women in the region, stating, “As First Lady, I’ve seen the relentless efforts of women driving progress in Sierra Leone.” She expressed gratitude for the opportunity to support such initiatives and pledged her commitment to enhancing opportunities for women and girls.

The dinner took place amidst the backdrop of her husband, President Julius Maada Bio’s Big Five Agenda, which prioritizes agriculture and aims to transform the nation’s economy. “His dedication to empowering women and girls inspires me daily,”

Mrs. Bio remarked, reinforcing the couple’s shared vision for a more equitable society.

The fundraising event aimed to raise awareness and resources for programs focused on education, health, and economic development for women in the Eastern Region. Organizers highlighted the importance of this gathering in fostering community support and collaboration among women’s groups.
