The First Lady of Sierra Leone Madam Fatima Bio delivered a compelling address at the Catholic Women Association’s Annual Diocesan Conference held in Bo, emphasizing the pivotal role of women in leadership and the critical need for education to empower future generations.
Speaking to a dedicated audience of Catholic women, Mrs. Bio highlighted the importance of equipping young women with both formal and non-formal education to help them thrive in today’s competitive job market.
She described education as the cornerstone for preparing young women to seize opportunities and contribute meaningfully to society.
“As women, we must ensure that our younger generation is well-prepared to face the challenges of the modern job market,” she stated, urging for collective efforts in prioritizing education as a tool for empowerment.
Madam Fatima Bio, who is a Muslim, also underscored the universality of the struggle for women’s empowerment, stressing that it transcends religious and cultural boundaries. “The pursuit of equality and opportunity for women is a cause that binds us, regardless of our faith and backgrounds,” she remarked, reinforcing the idea of unity among women from diverse communities.
