Ali Jaffal, Abdul Jaffal, Abdallah Jaffal, Mohamed Jaffal, Abass Antar, Naif Antar, and Hassan Jaffal made their eighth appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road Court No.2 for allegedly Wounding Adam Hamdam.
The accused were standing trial before the court on seven counts of charges ranging from Wounding, Assault, Affray, throwing missiles, and disorderly behavior.
The indictment states that the accused, on Saturday, 6th April 2024, at the Young Sports Club YSC facility Wilkinson Road in Freetown, maliciously wounded Adam Hamdan and Mohamed Aroune.
The charge sheet further stated that the accused also assaulted Adam Hamdan and Mohamed Aroune, and they were found fighting with the intent to put the public in fear.
The charge further that the accused were also found throwing stones and sticks to put the public into fear and also found behaving in a disorderly manner.
The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the offenses on their first appearance in court.
The State prosecutor Yusif Isaac Sesay Esq Led in prosecution witness number nine Abass Kazam reside at Scan drive Freetown a diplomat and a business man he said he is a consul of Guinea-Bissau to Sierra Leone he recognized all the accused persons he recall on the 5th April 2024 something transfer between herself and the accused persons on the above date he went at home he received a telephone call from his friend Hassan who was at YSC entertainer centre then he then called the first accused and informed him that he was told that his brother the second accused was involved in a fight at YSC he told him that he was busy with his father in law at the hospital the witness sad after thirty minutes ask him to go to YSC upon their arrival at YSC he found a lot of people running all around he entered the complex and went to the basketball field at the field there was serious confusion but there was no fighting when the situation was called he was going towards the gate when he saw the arrival of police officers the LUC for Lumley, Mr Mohamed Turay then ordered the gate to be closed he approached him the LUC pleaded with them to allow him move the women and children to go out because all the children were crying his request was granted and all the women and children were allowed to go out the police officers then asked him to cause those who involved in the fight to hand over them selves or he hard them over himself because the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 7th accused persons were present and so he handed them to the police.
The LUC asked for the others, and the 5th and 6th accused persons were brought to them. He then saw an OSD officer who brought a pistol but didn’t know where he got it from. He handed the said weapon to the LUC. All of them proceeded to the Lumley Police Station, and he made a statement to the police.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Bangura adjourned the matter to the 27th November 2024 bail continue for the accused persons.
